- Hiya folks!
-
- He yeah, another OS/2 user that decided to give a try to Helldiver, and
- I must say that after an afternoon of fooling around with, I am getting
- impress.... BUT there is a few things that, to ME, are nagging...
-
- 1) The biggest nag is that I have to had to the GENERAL autoexec.bat the
- SET WAFFLE line. For me this is a bad point, I'm in the habit of not
- wanting superflous (i.e. memory hogging as small as it may be)
- environment variable, TSR, drivers, ect... and that's what I love best
- of OS/2, it's is "option" of putting special devices and stuff for a
- specific session... OK, I'll admit that when it comes to stuff in
- autoexec, sometimes you have to create a bat file for somethings
- (example, my 2 batch file for the normal Waffle box, and the one for the
- LOCAL logging that have the SET WAFFLE line for THOSE session only), but
- I don't have that option or workaround for win-based prg's.
-
- 2) Is there any word wrap on this thing??? I've tried to post a message
- earlier on and when writing it, I noticed that ther wasn't any wrapping
- going on... Something I forgot?? (BTW, this message is NOT done or
- posted via HD, I'm back in my LOCAL LOGIN BOX [Waffle is still going in
- another] since another trouble encounter when trying HD, see later...)
-
- 3) Another nagging point is the fact that HD doesn't want to run in
- seamless mode (for non-OS/2'ers, this mean running a Windows or DOS prg
- on the OS/2 desktop without loading the previous mentionned full
- screen). Keeps saying that it can't find the SET WAFFLE...(maybe related
- to point 1 since even when loading the WIN-OS/2 full screen, that
- autoexec gets loaded, but it doesn't when runnin seamless?? I'll be
- asking about that in comp.os.os2.misc...).
-
- 4) LAstly, I CAN'T post from HD under WIN-OS/2. When I try to send a
- message, I get a SYSTEM ERROR message mentionning that the program can
- not be run under a WIN-OS/2 session (my deduction is the HSEND.EXE being
- called is the culprit AND WIN-OS/2. It is knowned that you can't run
- non-windows prg's in THIS version, it looks like in the next OS/2 [2.1
- with win3.1 compatibility] this will be probably not a problem anymore,
- but it is NOW!).
- Anyone got it running correctly??
-
- But basically I have to say this;
-
- RHYS, you have my thanks and congratulations on a well done prg!!
- NOw if I can get around the mentioned trouble I might keep it and
- register...
