- Hello all.
-
- I was configuring Waffle 1.65 (registered) this week and ended up
- with a real mess. I have two privileged accounts, root and system
- (naturally). When I logged in as root, the program logged me in
- and then proceeded to lock up tight. System logs confirmed that
- I had logged in, but I couldn't do anything. This is under DOS 5.0.
-
- I rebuilt the password and index files, but the problem persisted.
- After inspecting the password file, I noticed that there was some
- garbage after the username location for root. It seems that Waffle
- places the word "default" in the location of the Snew username during
- the user creation process and then writes over it. Efforts to subvert
- this were unsuccessful. Finally, I had to retrieve my 1.64 password
- file (off an erased disk, no less) and convert _it_ to 1.65. Inspection
- of the newly created password file using this method (which is what I
- had done in the beginning) shows none of the extraneous garbage produced
- when the file is created wi{h the 1.65 sysman utility.
-
- Is this a bug or what? I'm surprised nobody noticed this yet, or
- am I just the victim of random chance? Any suggestions would be
- greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-

- PS. Ignore the stupid header.
