I am again seeking such advice as the kindness of strangers might offer
regarding one of the basic hardware chains in this link.  I am having
trouble with modem mania.

I took delivery of one each dca Fatslink (freudian slip there), which
was purported to be a Trailblazer under another label.  After much
configuring, I had it up and running fine, although I could not lock it
higher than 9600 (this despite of the claim it was capable of 1800 cps
with the new chipset and everything).

Then it just quit answering the phone.  I happened to have access to
another such from the same source, and saw similar though not identical
results.  And so I retreated to an ancient 2400 bauder which at least
can claim the virtue of performing as it claims reliably.

And so I thought I would ask those who pass this way, presuming long
experience testing modems under conditions identical to mine, what your
recommendations are as to modem makes.  I would like a living
testamonial from anyone that has any Telebit running Waffle for years
with no problems and high cps.  That would be encouraging.

But type slowly, please, for my reception is old and sluggish...
