Actually, Fossil was orignaly created for Fido type BBSs. Hence the acronym Fosill, which stands for Fido Opus...[can't recal the others] IT was done this way so that any MS-DOS capable computer could run the BBS software, while they would get a driver made specificaly for their computer system. Currently this measure is no longer needed for most BBS software, they handle their own modem connections, but software such as QuickBBS and Remote Access still depend on a Fossil driver.
I tried running with a Fossil driver and Windows, it sucked, because of it my connection with my feed was not working for over a day. Everytime we connected, nothing would happen. I now run Waffle v1.65 under Windows v3.1 without a driver and everything works fine.
