- As a person who's participated in several ANSI standards development efforts,
- I understand your point. *However*, the world of GUI didn't begin until Apple
- "just did it". Then followed microsoft and the others.

- I understand that many folks are trying to get realistic graphic standards put
- together, but someone's got to take a proactive role in all of this before
- people really start to move.

- Many companies have made millions, and have been quite successful by producing
- proprietary standards... ala US Robotics and Apple. Those are just two of the
- countless folks who've given the standards world the kick in the pants they
- needed. I'll be the first to support open market standards, but the last to
- stop someone's movement on a good concept.
