  11. I think Kermit has been unfairly slimed in the comparisons: the description
  12. of low throughput is true for very old Kermits (like the 1985-vintage
  13. one I used to use), but not for newer ones.

  15. I installed a newer version of kermit on our SPARCstations, and found
  16. it highly efficient with both other Suns and with PCs.  Over an MNP5
  17. V.32 connection, I regularly saw throughputs of around 1900 chars/sec
  18. (with a 19,200 bps RS-232 port speed).  I use three 512-byte windows,
  19. and this seems to work very well on a variety of line conditions.
