- Unfortunately, the following information may not help you that much, but
- thought you might want to know about it. The NewsHour on BCTV covered this on
- one of their telecasts a few months back. According to the show, if the
- builder wasn't part of the New Home Warranty program, there wasn't a lot
- the tenants could do. I think the end result was that in some buildings,
- tenants were fixing things themselves and then suing the builder. In
- other cases, enough tenants got together to pressure the builder into
- doing something. The bad news was that there were a lot of people in this
- situation because of the large number of condos being constructed during
- the so called "good times." A lot of builders were hoping to cash in on
- the market and were building them very quickly and with very minimal
- concern about using high quality control. This isn't to say all builders
- were bad, but just that there were (are?) a lot that were (are).
