- This is generally caused by an interrupt or i/o conflict...for example, if
- you're running an NE2000 network card at I/O base 360h, this will actually
- overwrite LPT1 which is often at 378h.

- Aside from that possibility...what about IRQ conflicts between the IRQ that
- your printer port is using and your network adapter? (LPT1=IRQ7,
- LPT2=IRQ5, COM1=IRQ4, COM2=IRQ3)
