- Hello,
- Here at UNBSJ we are running Proteon's P1392 and P1892 token ring
- cards. Our setup is as follows:
-
- (ring1)-[Server1]-(central ring)-[SERVER2]-(ring2)
- | |
- ===========ethernet==========
- | |
- [Unix bootp server] [router to internet]~~~[WORLD]
-
- The two servers are running Novell 3.11. They are also running the
- BOOTPFWD.NLM (I forget where I got this, I can look up if anyone interested).
- To get this setup to work we have to use Proteon's IBM lan support
- program at the bottom of the stack and then use an old version of IPX for
- IBM lan Support program (v2.40) and NETX (whatever version). We also use the
- latest Crwyn IBM Lan Support packet driver (version 10? I think). A sample
- network batch file looks like the following ( assuming the Lan support
- programs loaded high in config.sys and DOS 5.0):
- loadhigh ibmtoken 0x65 0
- loadhigh ipx
- netx
- Order seems to very important and with this setup we are able to use
- ftpbin, telnet, tn3270 and trumpet.
- If you are not able to load things high, this solution will take a
- large chunk of memory (>115K).
- I hope this is useful,
