- Itamar is right in that ALT white- will provide dashes, both on screen and on
- paper. However, they suffer from two flaws. First, they are not true
- m-dashes, and second, they are shortened within certain range of proportional
- point sizes to such an extent that they begin to look like specks instead of a
- proportionately-sized elongated dash. By contrast, laser jet drivers in NB3
- did provide true m-dashes (they were accessed with CTL ALT gray-). Two such
- keystrokes in a row and a properly elongated dash was available in every fixed
- and proportionate size. I did two things: (1) imported the relevant sections
- of the NB3 printer driver into the NB4 driver, and (2) assigned the old
- keystroke combination of CTL ALT gray minus to the NB4 keyboard.

- As for automatic leading, I thank Tim Moore for his VL discovery. Can you
- specify what values you gave the setting in your HP-III driver?
