  13. In the light of problems with the menus which can't load more than one
  14. personal dictionary and NB4's failure to deliver the goods on this
  15. point, last night I adapted something I wrote for NB3. It seems to
  16. work ok, and apologies to Tony Woozley who sent me a routine which I
  17. have not used (it came after I did it a different and less elegant
  18. way): that is, capturing the name of a file without the extension (if
  19. there is one). It also loads a phrase library if there is one. If
  20. there isn't you get an error message.

  22. This routine also sets up an automatic save to a: and c:..... As I
  23. said to someone else last night, I wear a belt and braces and would
  24. also use a skewer through the navel if I could..... It seems to
  25. coexist happily with NB4's autosave.

  27. Once again apologies to Tony whose backup utility I have not used as
  28. it does not force the backup onto a special floppy (ie one that groups
  29. all files from the same directory onto the same floppy). I could not
  30. see how to modify his elegant little gem to do that. This problem
  31. arises because of how I personally use subdirectories. I find it makes
  32. it easier to take the correct floppy home, for example, to have
  33. separate floppies for separate subdirectories.

  35. I put the two features together because I work on the basis that a
  36. file significant enough to deserve its own dictionary and possibly
  37. phrase library is also likely to be worth having a backup copy of.

  39. It's a simple enough pgm to tinker with if you don't want the save
  40. feature.  If you feel insecure with xpl, tell me and I'll send it to
  41. you modified accordingly.
