  12. Thanks for the suggestion about the rus list.  I now have Tschernowzy located
  13. in N.W. Ukraine, found it became Austrian, then was administerd as part
  14. of Galicia, then "Herzogstum von Bukovina" which I assume was still
  15. Austro-Hungarian, got its university in 1875.

  17. My guess (unsupported by facts) is that the archives are in Vienna, and
  18. I have a phone no. but no fax for the archives there.
