  37. The purpose of this list is to provide information about various
  38. on-line (electronic) resources related (sometimes weakly, I have
  39. to admit :-) to the Eastern-European issues or run from the EE
  40. networks.

  42. This list does NOT contain any information on how to obtain
  43. access to Internet/Usenet/EARN/CREN/etc.. For questions of such
  44. a general nature please check other sources available on the
  45. network like <news.answers>, where you can find many Frequently
  46. Asked Questions (FAQ) Lists, or, for example, read some files
  47. available via anonymous ftp from <pit-manager.mit.edu>
  48. (18.72.1.58), stored in the directory /pub/usenet.

  140. Relcom (Russian Electronic COMmunications) services include
  141. e-mail, USENET news and access to USENET archives. The messages
  142. are mostly in Russian and encoded in KOI-8. Cyrillic fonts and

  144. anonymous ftp from <mcsun.eu.net>.

  242. MAILING & DISCUSSION LISTS RUN FROM LISTSERVERS
  243. ===============================================
  244. Listserver addresses from which the discussion lists are
  245. distributed, can be obtained substituting <listname> by word
  246. <listserv>, for example <poland-l@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu> runs from
  247. <listserv@ubvm.cc.buffalo.edu>. Some of the mailing lists are
  248. available in the form of Usenet news. The following list contains
  249. only discussion lists open to the public.
  250.  
  251. Each discussion list run from a listserver has two e-mail
  252. addresses, each one for a different purpose. You send commands to
  253. the ListServ address and messages to the group address.
  254.  
  255. Whenever it was possible mail addresses were given for each
  256. ListServer in CREN/EARN/etc. domain and in the Internet domain.
  257. If only one address is given, you are on your own - only your
  258. LOCAL system people would be able to give you correct advice.
  259. There are also some addresses given in brackets - these have
  260. quasi-Internet form and may work, although no guarantee here :-(
  261.  
  262. If your machine is capable of sending and receiving Internet
  263. mail,
  264. then to subscribe, using mail send the following command to
  265. listserv@node.domain.etc:
  266.     SUB List-L your_full_name
  267. where "your_full_name" is your REAL name, and NOT your network
  268. userID. For example: SUB List-L John Doe

  270. If you are connected to CREN/EARN/etc. _and_ capable of using
  271. interactive messages, you can use syntax:

  1335. Up-to-date information about the network in Poland is brought by
  1336. "Pigulki". Archived at <alfa.camk.edu.pl>, <ccpnxt7.in2p3.fr> and
  1337. <tirana.berkeley.edu>.

  1339. There is a bundle of e-mailing and networking in xSU related
  1340. files
  1341. available from <listserv@indycms.iupui.edu>. The list of those
  1342. files can be obtained by sending INDEX List-L to the server and
  1343. then can be retrieved using GET file_name. Try archives of all
  1344. lists run from this server: EC, RUSSIA, SCS-L, TPS-L.
  1345.    An example of how to retrieve these files:  To get the uucp
  1346.    map, send the command GET RUSSIA UUCPMAP as the _body_ of an
  1347.    e-mail or interactive message to LISTSERV at INDYCMS (CREN)
  1348.    or listserv@indycms.iupui.edu (Internet).
