- Barbara: From what I can gather the mandate was an internal order from
- the chancellor. The purpose is supposed to be the improvement of
- undergraduate teaching and learning. The audience is the State since an annual
- report must be forwarded to SUNY. The college, faculty and administrattion
- are supposed to beneift
- from the process. From my experiences though, the
- faculty has not bought in to the process. One reason is simply that the
- assessment project has been an added responsibility with no added $. The
- colleges' responses have been what I would call "strategic compliance>"
