  22. The new program was discussed in detail at the Las Vegas DECUS
  23. about a week ago.

  25. Here are some extracts from my notes:

  27. The new prices will be announced the 2nd week in Jan.
  28.  
  29. Currently there are 1,500 schools in the CSLG program using
  30. $850 million in software and granted over $2,300 million in software.

  32. CSLG issues included
  33.   Profitability
  34.   Contract negotiations and renewals - simplify
  35.   customer resources - no more semi-annual report, replaced by annual survey.

  37. Goals for new program:
  38.   Charge for value - cover costs & return profit to DEC.

  40.  
  41. ESL and CSLG combined into one program.
  42. Seperate portfolios for the different operating systems.  (VMS, Osf/Ultrix, NT)
  43. Must purchase at least 1/year.  They will be updated 4 times/year.
  44. A nominal fee will get you an update.  Portfolio only good for a year.

  46. Your DEC sales rep. will now get sales credit - hopefully this will
  47. improve their performance. :-)

  49. SchoolWide software program for K-12 and
  50. CampusWide software program for colleges & universities.
  51. New category for statewide schools instead of being on the 101+ category.

  53. For calculating system counts 10 PCs will count as 1 system.

  55. 2 levels of support: 1) OS, System Integrated, Network & User Integrated
  56. products (like today's SSS) and 2) Layered Products

  65. Seperate portfolio fee.
