  21. Stress?" What did you think of it? Did you find it helpful? How can such
  22. an introduction be improved? What questions (if any) does it open but not
  23. answer? Ed and I would like to know.

  64. Cause-Effect is in the category of an Engineering science. Type 2.
  65. Information theory etc. is in the category of Abstract science. Type 3.
  66. Control Theory is in the category of an Engineering science. Type 2.

  68. The abstract sciences (math, geometry, information theory, etc., etc.),
  69. have NO connection to Boss REALITY. They cannot be tested, since they are
  70. logical constructs ONLY. Their "validity" and usefulness depends ENTIRELY
  71. on their application in support of a type 2 theory, which DOES have
  72. connection with Boss REALITY.

  74. The Cause-Effect engineering theory has failed more than once, but even
  75. though the experimenters have read Karl Popper, they WANT to interpret
  76. their "data" as supporting their theory. As Jean Luke Picard of "Star
  77. Trek" fame so appropriately commands when someone has made a suggestion:
  78. "Make it so!" "(Control for that perception)!" - "Proof" is found.

  81. As Rick and Martin now agree, it is the application of an abstract theory
  82. (about which one otherwise can make NO value judgements) to a FAILED
  83. engineering type theory, that created at least some of the previous
  84. disagreements. (Certainly, the abstract theory being applied to the
  85. engineering theory has to be appropriate to be useful).

  87. What is needed above all is sound engineering theory. When it comes to
  88. behavior, it is called PCT. If and when PCT fails once, we will not
  89. ignore Popper, but modify PCT.

  93. chosen perceptual references, allowing yourself and others enough
  94. perceptual degrees of freedom, effective action on whatever Boss REALITY
  95. is out there and satisfying perceptions of it.
