- Christia members and friends,
-
- I've been unable to dial in from home due to connection problems so I
- didn't the chance to wish everyone a merry Christmas. I hope you all
- enjoyed this special time as much as I did. My work with the homeless
- went very well this Christmas. We (my office) were able to cover the
- needs of 16 families, and the blankets and coats are still coming in
- for those on the street. I'm making three or four trips per week to
- people who are unable to find shelter and will probably continue this
- for at least three more weeks. I'm so thankful to God for inspiring
- so many people to donate! Many people have been touched in some way
- by this effort, and several people have come up to me and stated that
- Christmas is much different for them now...(some have cut back buying
- so many presents to family, and instead are choosing to contribute some
- of their time and money to families who have less).
-
- On another subject: I have update the file PBI BIOS, which contain a
- number of _new_ personal biographies from member of Christia. I think
- it might be a good idea to go over some of the basic Listserv commands
- you'll need to know in order to use the library.
- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
- There are two methods you may use to access the Listserv at this node:
- Interactive messaging and/or mail commands. The simplest method is by
- interactive message, however, members having only INTERNET connections
- must send their command via mail.
-
- INTERACTIVE MESSAGE COMMAND:
-
- IBM/VM sites can use the TELL command to communicate with LISTSERV, while
- VAX/VMS sites would probably use the SEND command. For example:
- ___________________________________________________________________________
-
- To obtain a list of files & archive logs from our library, send the message:
-
- TELL LISTSERV AT ASUACAD INDEX CHRISTIA (or)
- SEND LISTSERV AT ASUACAD INDEX CHRISTIA
-
- To obtain the above listing (but in a more readable format), send the message:
-
- TELL LISTSERV AT ASUACAD GET LIBRARY CATALOG (or)
- SEND LISTSERV AT ASUACAD GET LIBRARY CATALOG
-
- To receive the personal biographical file (PBI BIOS ), send the message:
-
- TELL LISTSERV AT ASUACAD GET PBI BIOS (or)
- SEND LISTSERV AT ASUACAD GET PBI BIOS
-
- ___________________________________________________________________________
-
- MAIL COMMAND:
-
- You can also send the same commands listed above via MAIL, by placing your
- command in the body or text area and sending the mail to LISTSERV@ASUACAD.
- When sending this kind of command you should leave the subject line blank,
- and send it unsigned. If your mailing software automatically includes your
- signature and you don't know how to keep it from doing so, just drop me a
- line and I'll try to help.
-
- Below is a sample of a mail command sent to LISTSERV@ASUACAD requesting the
- file...PBI BIOS.

- NOTE: All of the above commands are intended to be read by the computer at
- ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, and therefore should be sent to LISTSERV@ASUACAD.
