  35. This is a poor example; to my knowledge, several charitable causes are
  36. funded by Federal tax funds (and possibly state funds as well), such as:
  37.  
  38. National Endowment for the Arts
  39. Planned Parenthood
  40.  
  41. Effectively, the law *does* make you contribute to any such causes, as
  42. you do not have the option of deducting any such group's share from
  43. your taxes due, nor can you specify that one group's share be provided
  44. to an alternate cause of which you approve.  For example, if you prefer
  45. the way Birthright operates to the way Planned Parenthood operates, you
  46. cannot redirect your taxes from Planned Parenthood to Birthright; you
  47. must ultimately contribute to *both* if you want to support
  48. Birthright.
