  12. Well, last year ( or the year before last, depending when you see this ) I 
  13. worked next door to that site, and took many strolls around the property.  
  14. We used it like an open-air private meeting room.  Anyway, the antennas are 
  15. long-wire shortwave  style, seemingly one for each band they operate on.  
  16. There are both slant wire-tower combinations and horizontal arrays.  They 
  17. look to have been added at diffent times.
  18.     The land around there is a real environnmental nightmare;  the county dump 
  19. is just over a levee and it seems to seep into the groundwater there.  There are
  20. many foul-smelling pools of noxious liquids dribbling around the property. 
  21. There are huge chunks of concrete everywhere; it looks like the site was
  22. entirely paved over at one point long ago.  Amongst this debris there are
  23. a healthy population of rabbits and snakes, along with the ubiquitous rats
  24. and other small rodents.  We refered to our meetings in this area as 
  25. "snake walks", since the most successful meetings were those at which we
  26. actually saw snakes.  
  27.     As far as the radio emissions from the site, they are extremely strong.
  28. We were working on a video project, and it was very difficult to  keep 
  29. their noise  out of our circuits.  We actually had to go off-site to make 
  30. our own noise measurements.  At the time I was practicing for my Tech
  31. licence, so I tried to copy some of the signals at around 12 MHz but they
  32. were going to fast for me to get anything more that the station ID. We
  33. did have one guy who could copy some of their code from watching the
  34. noise bursts on the scopes though.
