  13. Those who oppose words such as "stewardess", "heroine", "hostess" are
  14. hypocrites. Their explanation  is that these words further the notion that
  15. being a man is the norm and being a woman is a deviant. i.e. there
  16. aren't different words for the male *and* the female. Yet, they
  17. accept the word "woman". The word "woman" comes from "man". (wif-man or
  18. literally "wife of man")
