- Mirriam Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary. The Eighth edition,
- which I have at work has 1355 pages in the general lexicon at about
- 50-60 items a page, so there are probably around eighty thousand words
- (not that the number of words is the sole (or best) measure of a
- dictionary). I believe the Ninth edition is the one in the stores
- these days.
