  26. Mirriam Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.  The Eighth edition,
  27. which I have at work has 1355 pages in the general lexicon at about
  28. 50-60 items a page, so there are probably around eighty thousand words
  29. (not that the number of words is the sole (or best) measure of a
  30. dictionary).  I believe the Ninth edition is the one in the stores
  31. these days.
