- Try either the latest AHD (3rd edition) or the "Concise Oxford English
- Dictionary". Both are about the same size (i.e., I am not talking about
- the complete OED or the 2-vol. Shorter OED), and I use both. They are hard
- back volumes, so not quite as easy to keep on a desk as a paperback, but they
- are well worth the expense and space.
