Thank God this newsgroup didn't turn out to be some fad diet fan club like
I was afraid it would be. I need help. I have gained about 25lbs. in the last
year. I am a student at Purdue's School of Pharmacy, so I have a very good ideawhat roles diet and exercise play in weight-loss; I just have a hard time
putting them into practice.
I am relieved to see so many intelligent postings dealing with exercise
since diet alone causes the body to panic and gain more weight. Anyway, I just
wanted to say "Hello" and let everyone know that I'm here at Purdue, beginning
to cut down on fats and switch to fruits and vegetables with the necessary
carbohydrates and fiber. I just wish someone would come up with a way to
reset the body's "fat thermostat." Mine is way too high, thanks to heredity.
I don't want to be very thin, because my genes are against me. I want to be
as thin as is healthy for me. (I'm 5'5" and 210 lbs.) Oh well. See ya!
