- One thing to watch out for in bicycling of any
- kind. Be sure to work as much at getting your
- leg muscles strengthened as you do at just getting
- the aerobic properties.
-
- I damaged a glutial in 1987, and was unable to
- ride my bike until 1990. Even then, I was only
- able to start with VERY short rides (15 minutes
- and I HURT!). At the end of 1990, I got hit by
- a car, and stopped riding. Due to having my dad
- die of cancer, and other odds and ends, I wound
- up not riding at all in 1991, and gained about
- 25 lbs. At the beginning of this year I started
- riding again - but since the glutial was healed
- (for the most part), I wasn't forceably reminded
- to work on my legs, and start out with short rides,
- and to not SIT on the bike.
-
- So - due to extra pressure and all, I now have a
- recurrance of a problem of blood blisters in the
- labia area. Ugh.
-
- So - try to do short bits on the bicycle, and
- stand as much as possible. You'll get better
- exercise, strengthen your legs, and keep from
- injuring yourself...
