- DISKREET has two encryption methods - a fast proprietary one (which I
- definitievely don't trust) and DES. I am afraid that the DES
- implementation is only in ECB mode, but have not verified that. It
- does not support encryption at the subdirectory level; it supports
- encryption at the drive level. That is, it creates a logical volume in
- a huge hidden file. This volume is accessed by the means of a device
- driver. It provides only encryption, not compression. I have been
- unmable to install both DISKREET and Stacker (obviously, the
- encryption should be at a lower level, otherwise no compression will
- occur). It seems that the drive swapper from Stacker does not work
- with logical drives - only with physical ones. Since I needed the
- compressed/encrypted/whatever drive to be C:, I didn't bother to try
- the combination of the two products without drive swapping...
