  32.      You know, Ted, I have the feeling a response is probably a waste
  33.      of time - but I'll type reallll slow so you'll have a better chance
  34.      of understanding my point.  First, I am all for teaching my kids
  35.      (and everyone elses) what works and what doesn't work in a social
  36.      situation.  Murder doesn't work in our society.  Being a thief
  37.      is not going to work.  There a lot of things that don't work - and
  38.      I would be remiss if I didn't give my children all the help possible
  39.      in learning what works.  The reason these things don't work is 
  40.      because society is avengeful society.  If you steal - you pay the
  41.      price.  Same for the other laws of society.  (I would recommend 
  42.      an excellent book called "Constructs of Reality" by Berger and
  43.      Lackman.  Gives an excellent description of HOW society makes
  44.      rules."  Second, what I am opposed to is people using the Bible to
  45.      promote their own particular forms of bigotry.   I believe the 
  46.      Bible has great value.  It certainly does to me.  However, I don't
  47.      understand everything in there.  I don't think you do either.
  48.      Therefore, I don't want you telling me what I think/feel/believe
  49.      is wrong because of your interpretation of the Bible.

  51.      I would like to point out that murder is wrong because someone
  52.      is harmed.  As a result, the harmed person has the "right ?" to
  53.      justice and society has a right to exact justice in order to 
  54.      prevent future reoccurrences.  However, there are some "illegal"
  55.      or "unacceptable" situations where - so far as I can tell - 
  56.      no one is harmed.  An example is a case where a child is raised
  57.      by same sex partners.   The child may have been better off in
  58.      a two-sex home.  But, if you carry this truism to its logical
  59.      point of absurdity - then you will find that most children would
  60.      be BETTER off in another home.  I, for example, would have been
  61.      much better off had I been born to RICH parents.  The fact is -
  62.      the child exist.  While he/ she might be better off elsewhere -
  63.      he/she could be a lot worse off.  For example, homeless.

  65.      And, for what it's worth, how many same-sex parents do you
  66.      know?  I know about 6  couples in my neighborhood.  Most of 
  67.      these parents are active in Parent teacher organization. (That's
  68.      where I met most of them.)  Their kids appear at least as well off
  69.      as other children.  In fact, most are better dressed and appear
  70.      healthier - in body and in spirit.
