- The Physics department head cannot do very much physics due to the continual
- demand on his time to fight the university bureaucrats. This whole
- incident was caused by Jay Stauss who ended up receiving a promotion. So
- much for his objectivity. This type of BS that the new department head will
- no doubt have to deal with has been seen in the fact that they are having
- problems getting professors to accept nomination for the position. I know
- of a few respected professors that have declined the nomination because
- they don't want to have to give up research time to deal with the university.
- They resticted their search to the university because they knew there was
- no way that they could attract anyone outside the university that was
- respectable.

- Thom, with all due respect, why don't you leave campus; go out into the
- real world; wander around the country homeless talking to real people and
- collecting aluminum cans; turn them in at an Alcoa recycling center; take
- the change that you get and put a down payment on a clue.
-
- If you can't see PC in action then you are to sheltered by your presence on
- campus. I think that you have jumped on Jay Stauss and Manny Pacheco's
- band wagon in asserting that "we have no PC problems here on campus". You
- have then generalized that it mustn't exist anywhere. Are you trying to tell
- me that Pacheco trying to mandate "sensitivity courses" for the physics
- department doesn't smell of PC? If so, please refer to above paragraph.
