- Well, I wasn't speaking about Scotland because, no I haven't been there but I
- have spent the past 3 summers in England, I've spoken to many Scottish people
- about the scene. My best friend used to live in Edinburgh and used to travel
- all over. So I believe I know what I'm talking about. Raving and techno are
- from England, Belgium, etc. and not native to Scotland, first of all. I've
- been to Manchester and I know the scene there (that's pretty north although I
- know it's not Scotland) and I've seen the violence. Don't blame it on the E
- heads... they're not entirely to blame. In fact, they partially made the
- scene what it is today which in my opinion is wicked and better than anything
- else I've seen (although I was in New York for 88-9 so I can't speak about
- then). The techno you speak about is today crap and commercial. Music is
- ever changing, ever evolving. Today's (good) techno is either acidic or
- hardcore and underground... very hard to find but it's there. So where
- exactly are you now? Scotland still?

- Thank God! Rest in peace... hurrah for evolution, improvement and perfection

- That's not what my friends tell me! That's why it's underground... less
- chance of this going commercial if everyone knows about it! I've even heard
- about Aberdeen of all places! One would think Glasgow or big cities.

- Hey, I worked for BT this summer. I know what's up there.
- My statement was political in motivation.
- It's one of the largest corporate institutions in the UK. It's the capitalist
- pigs that take something good, make it their own and sell it right back to
- you... also known as the commercial world. I don't expect you to agree but
- the mentality of companies like BT are largely responsible for the end of
- raving and techno as you know it. However, in the end, it was a good thing
- because now it's underground again (where it should be) and the quality is
- better. The music is by and for anti-establishment people... Dj's, hippies,
- squatters, and general club/drug victims... or societal drop-outs (as suggested
- by Timothy Leary and that lot).
