- For those not in the know, Mate (pronoince Ma+tay) is a
- drink fairly common in that area. It is properly served warm, with
- the leaves compacted into a dark green mass in the cup and a straw
- consisting of a flat plate with several small holes in it and a tube
- to deliver the strained refreshment to your mouth. So far as taste,
- it reminds me of nothing so much as water steeped in alfalfa, and it
- is reportedly fairly addictive, just like regular coffee. Simply place
- your straw in the mass, add hot water, and enjoy the flavor of grazing
- on freshly-cut hay in the Brazilian highlands.
