- Having been told categorically on the phone that Em is not eligible
- for a British passport, I wrote to the passport office, in order to get
- a written refusal that I could then take to my MP etc. They wrote back
- telling me that in order for them to make this decision I would have to
- send in a passport application. Which I did, noting that on the application
- I certify that the person named is a British citizen, which is, of course,
- what was remaining to be proved. I was slightly alarmed to see that making
- a false claim in this regard is a criminal offense. So I sent the thing off,
- and lo and behold, this morning Em gets a letter with a passport in it!
- Of course filling in the bit about "Holder's signature" could be a problem,
- but what the hell!!
