  36. Witch (with a small w) is just the modern spelling of wicca.  Wicca (with the 
  37. capital W) is an artificial word created by mispronouncing the old word wicca.
  38. There is theorising that the Old English wicc* comes from the proto-Indo-Aryan
  39. weik*, which may mean to bend.  However, there is not absolute agreement on 
  40. that among linguists.

  42. Also, on what page does Cunningham define Wicca?  The only thing I can see
  43. about linguistics in there is page xiv which is a linguistic note.  It begins:
  44. "Much disagreement concerning the exact (and original) meaning of the word 
  45. "Wicca" presently exists.  It's not my intention to enter into or add to such
  46. discussions..."
