  23. source references? I would be interested to hear how you come to such
  24. a conclusion. It sounds related to a little I read on the Rosicrucian
  25. mythos.

  27. But thinking it out in terms of survival on this planet, such psychic
  28. abilities that could be lumped under the class of instinct, e.g.,
  29. knowing intuitively that a certain act would lead to danger, would be
  30. very adaptive, but would lose value the less survival was threatened.

  32. Any ability which takes focus away from the present, however, would
  33. likely threaten survival.

  35. In reading this group, no one, to my knowledge, has made it clear that
  36. there is necessarily a exact correspondence between the place one
  37. visits oob and the physical place, further limiting its value for
  38. survival.

  40. The instance I can think of which would support your idea is what I
  41. know of Taoist literature, which claim the 'ancients' naturally
  42. exhibited many abilities we would think of as magick or psychic. But
  43. if you accept this picture, I think you have to loosen your grip on
  44. the Darwinian explanation of the manifestation of abilities.
