- Regarding the question about whether a helmet causes injury in an accident
- or not...
-
- I don't know if it actually _causes_ injuries, but it could be the case that
- wearing a helmet makes you more of a burden on the health care system. If you
- think about it, if you're in a serious accident, you'll likely have injuries
- to parts of your body other than the head (broken collarbone, wrists, ribs,
- internal damage, etc.) If you don't wear a helmet, this kind of injury will
- quite likely kill you since a small impact to the head can do this. If you
- _do_ wear a helmet, you're chances of survival are greater since the delicate
- head is protected, but you're still left with all the other injuries to be
- treated. We don't treat those if you're dead, right?
-
- I know, maybe kind of silly, but statistically this may be correct.
