- Well, first I'd say he obviously isn't running 93 octane gas, so its
- probably decent compression (10.5:1?) plus 10 psi boost, possibly more
- boost if he's running a pair of Vortech's rather than a single one.
- Intercooling is fairly uncommon in supercharged applications, but I'd be
- very surprised if he wasn't using one which should help some (as a datapoint,
- we were getting a little over 300F rise in intake temp pushing 10psi boost
- at 6000 engine rpm on a 350 chevy with a roots type blower (running
- natural gas, no cooling due latent heat of evaporization like you have
- when you sit a carb on top of the blower). Regardless, I know the GTO
- guys are pushing ~650hp from smallblocks normally aspirated with carbs,
- it doesn't surprise me that he can get 750hp with a blower and EFI.
- I guess I ought to read the article... (especially since we just
- ordered a Vortec for the NGV truck).
