- I used an Edelbrock water injection system (I can't remember the product
- name) a few years back. I was using it on a 10.25:1 400" Pontiac. It could be
- adjusted to meter the water based on RPM and vacuum. I was able to adjust it so
- that it would suppress detonation whlie using premium (91 octane or so) and
- driving in a spirited manner. I had two problems:
-
- 1) The jet that squirted water into the carb would clog up periodically, so
- I needed to carry a small wire in the car to unplug it (perhaps monthly).
-
- 2) I had to refill the water tank (I think it was 1/2 Gal) every morning in
- order to make the 20 mile round trip drive to work. This became tedious.
-
- Yes - it worked, but it wasn't a good solution for me. When I spun a rod
- bearing, the hassle of the injection was one more nail in the high-compression
- coffin.
-
- Standard disclaimers - YMMV
