- I recently did hook up an O2 sensor for that purpose.
-
- I got a universal 3 wire O2 sensor from a local Pep Boys ($39) and supplied
- 12V to the 2 black leads (Three wire sensor is self heating) When the sensor
- gets hot enough it will begin to generate 0 to 1 volt from the white lead.
-
- Going from lean to rich the sensor will output 0.1 on the lean end and 0.9 V
- on the rich end of the scale. ( 0.5vdc is about 14.7:1 A/F)
- You can bench test using a butane lighter just be sure the sensor casing is
- grounded to the power source as it is when installed in the exhaust pipe.
-
- Use a high impedance volt meter (digital will be more responsive). After messing
- around with this I went ahead an got a $35 LED meter from JC Whitney (Ripme)
- which is easier to read and works while I drive (Can read at night too).
-
- Very neat toy, this setup allows you to tune the entire fuel curve from
- idle to cruise and at WOT.
