  26. Friendship books.  Now *there's* a blast from the past!  Whow!  I spent 
  27. about 3 years of my life in the mid- to late-80's submerged in the "gothic 
  28. pen-pal underground" of which friendship books were such an integral part. 
  29. I've often wondered whether the "network" still existed.  I have a lot of 
  30. fond memories of my pen-pal days, although I've lost contact with pretty 
  31. much all of the people that I used to write to.  Perhaps my favorite part 
  32. of it was the fact that I was one of about 10 males that were involved in 
  33. the "network", and there were a couple of hundred females, so I was pretty 
  34. popular. :-)  (this probably explains my continuing weakness for young 
  35. goth girls... don't tell my wife, tho'... heh...)

  37. Was anyone else out there involved in this "subculture" back then?  Or are 
  38. you still?  Anyone recognize names like Radia?  Belladonna?  Grim Reaper? 
  39. Vandal Lament?  Sanity Assassin (that was moi...)?

  41. This seems like a weird co-incidence to me, 'cause I remember thinking of 
  42. alt.gothic as a computerized version of the ol' "network" when I first 
  43. discovered it.  The more it changes...
