- Friendship books. Now *there's* a blast from the past! Whow! I spent
- about 3 years of my life in the mid- to late-80's submerged in the "gothic
- pen-pal underground" of which friendship books were such an integral part.
- I've often wondered whether the "network" still existed. I have a lot of
- fond memories of my pen-pal days, although I've lost contact with pretty
- much all of the people that I used to write to. Perhaps my favorite part
- of it was the fact that I was one of about 10 males that were involved in
- the "network", and there were a couple of hundred females, so I was pretty
- popular. :-) (this probably explains my continuing weakness for young
- goth girls... don't tell my wife, tho'... heh...)
-
- Was anyone else out there involved in this "subculture" back then? Or are
- you still? Anyone recognize names like Radia? Belladonna? Grim Reaper?
- Vandal Lament? Sanity Assassin (that was moi...)?
-
- This seems like a weird co-incidence to me, 'cause I remember thinking of
- alt.gothic as a computerized version of the ol' "network" when I first
- discovered it. The more it changes...
