- I am dwriting this without being able to see my monitor,

- a few lines, and then doing a screen dump to my printer.
- So far all of you people who have included quotes
- needlessly... I HATE YOU! :)

- I read the article Steve larsen wrote
- about Honda getting out of Ryu fireball traps.
- He mentioned something about
- walking forward and then blocking a slow fireball.
- Afterwards, he asserts that Honda can jump in
- and attack Ryu.
-
- This is completely false. After blocking a slow fireball, Ryu can throw
- a fast fireball which will hit Honda if he
- does anything. Honda MUST block another fireball
- in this situation. In other situations in which
- Honda blocks a fireball, Honda MUST jump straight fup to escape the fireball trap.
- Nothing else will work. If Honda jumps forward, Ryu can footsweep
- or kick him out of the air. The only time Ryu should be throwing fast fireballs is
- after Honda blocks a slow fireball. Another time
- is after doing a crouching roundhouse when Honda gets close. That
- puts Honda back into fireball trap range.
-
- Also, doing roundhouse/fireball trades is not
- advantageous for Honda. It pushes Honda back and
- knocks Ryu backwards. The end result is that Ryu is too far away for
- Honda to attack effectively. And besides, any intelligent
- Ryu player will not throw a fireball when Honda is that close. What I do is
- do a dance, or block. Eventually, I can sneak in a roundhouse/fireball
- which will push Honda back. If you do nothing but block, there is
- nothing Honda can do to get close to you. If he gets within range,
- you can do a roundhouse/fireball to push him back. If he jumps in, you
- can dragon punch. If he does a footsweep, you block it and then fireball
- to push Honda back after the sweep.
-
- Honda used to be able to do crouching strong and short punches
- in the classic edition. At least these had high
- priority over Ryu's letsweeps. No longer!
- Honda must do the slow crouching fierce in order to fight an efffective
- close range battle with Ryu. And as we all know, that slow crouching fierce is
- NOT much of an effective move. So, what we have is
- a character who cannot fight at close, medium, or long range against another character!
- Hmmm.... The only way Honda can beat Ryu is if Ryu lets
- him, period.
