- The Prodigy STAGE.DAT thing has been pretty well debunked. However, the
- situation was more complicated than the first phase skeptics made it out to
- be. Apparently, not only can old sectors hold deleted data (as everyone
- knows), but some MSDOS disk caches apparently even contained and wrote data
- from other disks; data which some folks found which had never been on the
- same drive as STAGE.DAT was one of the most damning initial reports. This
- was confirmed by Phil Becker, author and owner of TBBS software in Denver,
- Colorado.
