  15. The Prodigy STAGE.DAT thing has been pretty well debunked.  However, the
  16. situation was more complicated than the first phase skeptics made it out to
  17. be.  Apparently, not only can old sectors hold deleted data (as everyone
  18. knows), but some MSDOS disk caches apparently even contained and wrote data
  19. from other disks; data which some folks found which had never been on the
  20. same drive as STAGE.DAT was one of the most damning initial reports.  This 
  21. was confirmed by Phil Becker, author and owner of TBBS software in Denver,
  22. Colorado.
