- I look forward to hearing more about this subject, too.
- One incident I'm familiar with is the case of the privateer DASH, a
- legendary ship of the 1812 era which disappeared without a trace near
- Georges Bank.
- The ship has reportedly been seen in Casco Bay on numerous
- occasions, most recently during World War II. Legend holds that each
- time a descendant of the original crew dies, the ship comes home to take
- the person away to the "other side". The vessel always appears in a
- dense fog, usually in a dead calm, but the ship is making speed under
- full sail.
- You're right about New England having it's share of ghost
- stories and supernatural tales. While he was no historian, the books of
- the late Edward Rowe Snow make for some great reading on stormy
- nights. I can recommend some other books as well if you're interested.
