- Man is this ever a low-volume newsgroup! I love Tom Robbins though,
- so I'll keep checking it.
-
- I read my first Tom Robbins book last summer. I started out with
- Still Life With Woodpecker and I absolutely loved it. It took me
- only 20 pages or so to get used to Robbins' style and I immediately
- was taken by Robbins' original and unusual writing as well as the
- plot and characters.
-
- I wanted to leap right into the rest of his work, but ended up putting
- down both Another Roadside Attraction and Even Cowgirls Get The Blues
- due to lack of interest. I read about 50 pages of each and just didn't
- get hooked- the style was still wonderful and the plot unusual but somehow
- the magic of Still Life was missing.
-
- Well, finally winter break is here and I have time to read again. I'm
- currently about 2/3 finished with Skinny Legs and All and it has me
- totally spellbound. Like Still Life, I'm sure it'll be right up there
- among my all-time favorite novels.
-
- So my question is: what next? Did anyone else have trouble getting into
- Roadside Attraction or Cowgirls? How good is Jitterbug Perfume? Do you
- think his first two books would be worthwhile to try again if I didn't
- enjoy their beginnings?
-
- Thanks in advance... I'll also be more than happy to discuss Skinny Legs
- and All with people.
