  10. Man is this ever a low-volume newsgroup!  I love Tom Robbins though,
  11. so I'll keep checking it.

  13. I read my first Tom Robbins book last summer.  I started out with
  14. Still Life With Woodpecker and I absolutely loved it.  It took me
  15. only 20 pages or so to get used to Robbins' style and I immediately
  16. was taken by Robbins' original and unusual writing as well as the
  17. plot and characters.

  19. I wanted to leap right into the rest of his work, but ended up putting
  20. down both Another Roadside Attraction and Even Cowgirls Get The Blues
  21. due to lack of interest.  I read about 50 pages of each and just didn't
  22. get hooked- the style was still wonderful and the plot unusual but somehow
  23. the magic of Still Life was missing.

  25. Well, finally winter break is here and I have time to read again.  I'm
  26. currently about 2/3 finished with Skinny Legs and All and it has me
  27. totally spellbound.  Like Still Life, I'm sure it'll be right up there
  28. among my all-time favorite novels.

  30. So my question is: what next?  Did anyone else have trouble getting into
  31. Roadside Attraction or Cowgirls?  How good is Jitterbug Perfume?  Do you
  32. think his first two books would be worthwhile to try again if I didn't
  33. enjoy their beginnings?
