  15. FWIW, the only female dwarf explicitly mentioned is Dis, sister of
  16. Thorin and mother to Fili and Kili.  She's mentioned somewhere in the
  17. appendices.  Unfortunately, it gives no description of her, so we are 
  18. left with the mystery of whether female dwarves have beards...

  20. (Speaking of which, ever notice the strange colors of the dwarves'
  21. beards in the Hobbit?  Everything from blue to red to green, etc.
  22. Any thoughts on this?  Or is this a remnant of the more childish
  23. portions of the Hobbit?)
