  18. If I remember correctly, Disney *had* the rights to do _LotR_ while Tolkien
  19. was still alive.  They bailed out.  JRRT was not unhappy about this.  While
  20. he would have liked the $$$ the movie would have generated, and was willing
  21. to bend a fair amount (like axing Bombadil) to get those $$$, in the end he
  22. didn't much like the Disney "style" of doing things.
