-
- I think we should avoid using the "s"-word, since a major battle of
- the recent flame war was about the inappropriateness of that very
- word... We wouldn't want Jay Maynard to believe we'd changed our
- minds, would we? :-)

-
- Sure, and I didn't say I objected to that aspect of the alt.fan
- hierarchy. What I did object to was putting the multics newsgroup
- there.
-
- >Alt.fan.lemurs, alt.fan.letterman, etc. are all very interesting groups

-
- I haven't read alt.fan.lemurs - maybe I should.
-
- And let's not forget alt.fan.enya; we almost started a flamewar
- when Tim Pierce proposed rmgrouping that group and replacing it
- with a mailing list. (Let me hasten to add that that particular
- discussion got a peaceful conclusion).
-
- >Perhaps it's the

-
- "Disgusting" is too strong a word, but I was referring to those groups
- when I wrote about "spurious groups" above. I don't find them
- disgusting, but I think they may damage the propagation of the entire
- alt.fan hierarchy.
-
- >But nevertheless, I agree, alt.fan.multics would be inappropriately named.
- >I think alt.os.multics would be a good starting point for Multics discussions.
-
- And so do I.
