  20. Mail Admin for MN.Org, I feel I should add to what Mr. Iacovou posted
  21. a bit ago, some of which is quoted below:

  53. Internet Domain Park in the world, the MN.ORG domain park.  This experiment
  54. was a success.  In late 1991 / early 1992, the Unix Users of Minnesota (UUM)
  55. user group assumed responsibility for the operation of the MN.ORG domain park,
  56. adding capacity and stability to this already powerful resource.  Many of your
  57. electronic "neighbors" have chosen to join the Minnesota domain park and claim
  58. their place in the world network community.  We invite you to do the same.

  62. It should be stressed again that MN.Org consists of many INDEPENDENT
  63. sites, some of whom are hobbyists, some consultants, some small
  64. businesses, etc.  We number over 90 sites, these days.  Many MN.Org
  65. members have been or are students at umn.edu, and there is a cordial,
  66. cooperative relationship between MN.Org and the good folks at the U.
  67. In the past year, with the help of several donor vendors, MN.Org now
  68. has its own Internet gateway and is providing its own Nameservice,
  69. with some umn.edu machines now providing a backup or secondary
  70. function on our behalf.

  72. So, Umn.edu does not oversee MN.Org operations, nor is it responsible
  73. for MN.Org activities, except that it may cut off the backup services
  74. if it disagrees with something we do, of course.

  76. What about anatolia.mn.org?  As of the middle of next week, anatolia
  77. will not longer be part of MN.Org.  From purely a resource standpoint,
  78. MN.Org cannot provide the class of service necessary to support a site
  79. that regularly attracts 9-Meg mail bombs.  (May all bombers rot in a
  80. special level of Hell, with only BITNET access or something.)  From an
  81. administrative standpoint, actions by or supported by site anatolia
  82. have brought down universal discord from the Net community and this
  83. has reflected badly (and unjustly) on Umn.Edu and the rest of the
  84. sites in MN.Org.  I believe these are reasons enough for expulsion.
  85. You other Admin folks out there know how difficult it is to go through
  86. something like this and come out of it with a white hat on.

  88. I post this article in the hopes that it clarifies some things
  89. involved with this whole Argic/anatolia thing, and helps untarnish
  90. the reputations of MN.Org and Umn.Edu.  You may direct further
