- Hello all, I just purchased a computer (486-66) with an Adaptec 1542BK
- controller and would like to hook up a SONY CD-ROM to it. The
- question is how do I set up my Adaptec controller ?. Here is what I
- did so far : I have a Toshiba MK438FB SCSI HD on the internal SCSI
- cable, and a SONY 6211-10 CD-ROM (external). With the three
- terminators in place (not removed) ASPI4DOS.SYS finds my HD as SCSI ID
- 0 and my CD-ROM as SCSI ID 3 (but it thinks it is a CDU-541 model ???)
- but ASPICD.SYS says : CD-ROM driver NOT LOADED: no valid devices
- present. When I remove the three terminators from the board my HD is
- not able to boot at all. So I am kind of stuck, if anyone has a
- similar setup please drop me a line (I'm probably doing something very
- silly) because it is driving me crazy. Thanx in advance.
