- Frood appears, wearing sailor's clothes and some sort of contraption
- that looks like a cross between a face-mask and some sort of medieval
- device, an air hose in his hand*. He looks for somewhere to plug in
- for more air, looks at the VPM, looks at all the patrons, looks at the
- hose again as he starts turning blue and finally pulls off the mask
- and hangs it over his shoulder.
-
- After a few deep breaths he begins to laugh, mostly at himself. "I
- think I spent too much time underwater, and too much of that time
- wearing one of those silly things."
-
- He salutes Mike/Neptune and greets Danger Squid/Mouse and the many
- others around the place.
-
- "Virtual Pizza Machine - A double cheese with sausage, pepperoni,
- green peppers, and a significant amount of crushed red pepper." frood
- orders.
-
- As the pie quickly arrives he sets it aside for a moment on a nearby
- table, "Would someone like to partake of this particular blend? I
- thought I heard someone say they liked pizza that bit back a bit.
- This one should."
-
-
- Frood grabs a glass of that champagne and, threading through the New
- Year's throng, makes his way to the line. He drinks the effervescent
- liquid and raises the glass.
-
-
- "While we revel, let's not forget those who for their various reasons
- cannot make it here tonight, including the folks who are busy, soberly
- doing their jobs - on duty protecting life and limb from threats real
- or (i ardently hope) needlessly feared."
-
- "Happy New Year"
-

-
- "And for all you sailors, get cracking on the traditional, rhyming
- 0001 January 01, 1993 log entry. It's the only time you can get
- really creative in the logs."

- *(The mask is an EAB, for those who've ever "sucked rubber". It's
- supposed to keep you alive if the air in the submarine goes bad. It's
- not a diving mask but is rumored to work as one to about 3 meters
- before the regulator on the air hose goes bonkers. Most often a
- person wears one because the ship is having an emergency drill. Ship
- folk rightfully fear ever having to wear one for any other reason.)
