- Liralen, you're going to kill me for this....
-
- ("The Moonlight Eyes That Grace Us Here.."
- -by Jeffrey 'Taldin' Young
- --with extreme apologies to Longfellow and Paul Revere..
-
- Taldin recites softly, with echoes of the real poem from the
- fourth grade in his ears...
-
-
- -------------
- Listen my friends and you will hear
- Of the Patron Saint who we all revere
- She seeks to deny it, she seeks to contrive
- Hardly a patron is now alive
- Who can deny that famous lady's here.
-
- I tell you my friend, tho her eyebrows arch
- She's Liralen Li, heroine and Light
- Whether October, November, December or March
- Our Liralen will grace our bar tonight
- She compes by Polari, our Liralen Li
- (and I think for this she's gonna kill me)
- (I'm ready to run and head for the farm..)
- From Callahans still she can reach with an arm
- For those who themselves would do themself harm.
-
- Then she'll say 'Goodnight,' with a hug and a soar
- Signs off of the net and is heard from no more
- Just as the moon sets over Frisco Bay
- Near where the Saint, John and Fezzik stay
- (Dear lords, can you really take this much more?)
- A phantom too, in Chatsubo afar
- And Blammor as well, within the Bar
- All our Patron Saint, diversified
- And in alt.callahans, they all preside.
-
- Our Patron Saint, she's really neat,
- Listens intently to our doubts and fears
- And comments again on what she hears
- As patrons arrive through Mikes oaken door
- And all of us rise, a newbie to greet
- To those who toe the line, and talk of their cares
- And as time goes on, we care all the more.
-
- Then she climbed to the rafters, where some lurkers perch
- Nearby the iron stairs, where once the Lady did tread
- And looked down upon us from overhead
- And within our souls from there she can search
- With somber eyes, she can see whence were made
- Masses and Shadows lurk in the shade--
- By the Patron Saints power, she can see them all
- From the ones by the bar, to the Xwindow'd wall
- But she pauses to listen and then look down
- A moment upon us, whether smile or a frown
- And the firelight playing flickers over us all.
-
- Taldin stops, out of breath and pelted by a hailstorm of peanuts.
- "Okay, okay, I'll quit. Thanks to Belle for typing the whole
- poem in, even if I didn't use it all. I suppose if you REEALLY
- want I'll compose all the rest.. but Khai that sucker is LONG!"
-
- Taldin grins at Liralen. "I know you didn't ask for it,
- but it had to be done." *snug*
