  22.   Heh.  Reminds me of the story of a friend of a colleague of my, er,
  23. Landlady is probably the right term.  She, the friend that is, is an Iranian
  24. who has been living in England for some years now, and was married in this
  25. country.  However, due to some odd technicality or other, the Iranian
  26. government don't regard her as legally married (and of course her son is by
  27. the same token illegitemate), put her in what is best described as a very
  28. interesting legal position should she return to Iran.  This is unlikely to
  29. happen, however.  You see, every Iranian has a document that is a combined
  30. birth, marriage and death record, and someone accidentally stamped her
  31. "death" section.  She is therefore legally dead.  This could be rectified if
  32. she went back in person to where her certificate had been issued and got a
  33. replacement, except... you guessed it... they won't issue her a passport
  34. because she is legally dead!
