- Heh. Reminds me of the story of a friend of a colleague of my, er,
- Landlady is probably the right term. She, the friend that is, is an Iranian
- who has been living in England for some years now, and was married in this
- country. However, due to some odd technicality or other, the Iranian
- government don't regard her as legally married (and of course her son is by
- the same token illegitemate), put her in what is best described as a very
- interesting legal position should she return to Iran. This is unlikely to
- happen, however. You see, every Iranian has a document that is a combined
- birth, marriage and death record, and someone accidentally stamped her
- "death" section. She is therefore legally dead. This could be rectified if
- she went back in person to where her certificate had been issued and got a
- replacement, except... you guessed it... they won't issue her a passport
- because she is legally dead!
-
- Sigh.
