  32. The desalination plat is ready to go but is off line because they don't
  33. need it right now (water from there costs about 10 times that of their
  34. lake water). The reason S.B. doesn't use state water is because this
  35. would cause the local government to lose control over the growth in
  36. the area. S.B. city is forcing UCSB to spend (I think) $2 million +
  37. on a pipeline from the campus to a local swamp to pump recycled water
  38. back into the water table so the UC can expand its campus. I think this
  39. is a resonable thing to do to the UC and to businesses but they are
  40. totally ignoring the 'farmers' that are wasting water on avicado
  41. trees (where they aren't harvesting the avicados) so when the price
  42. goes up enough on their land they can sell it off to a developer,
  43. show the city the water bills (at agricultural prices) and claim that
  44. 400 people living here would use oh so much LESS water! Its all
  45. Bull Sh*T pollitics to me.

  47. I think the best description of pollitics was given by a comedian,
  48. if you break words up you can get their reall meanings -
  49. Pollitics - polli (polly) = many, tics (ticks) = small blood sucking
